'Clare Haward’s line drawings are about a sense of place, about developing a personal understanding and mapping of her surroundings through observational drawing. Her use of line in drawings places the space outside the objects on the same level of importance as the objects themselves. Line is essentially an optical illusion, an element that does not exist in reality, but that our eye tricks us into believing is there'
